Food Photographer
Food photography is my passion. It is an area I find particularly enjoyable
and exciting. There are so many small details associated with food photography,
and it is very rewarding to see them all combine to make an appetizing
and appealing image. I have always been fascinated by the preparation
and production of food. I do find it helps if I am not hungry when photographing
food! It is important that food images remain tempting, even to people
who are not hungry.
Photographing drinks requires technical skills and full control of the
light. Unwanted reflections can cause problems with glass and liquids,
and great patience is sometimes needed to overcome this. Light is important
in all aspects of photography, but especially so in food photography.
As there is so much detail in food shoots, it can be tricky to get it
just right. Creating a natural light, as close as possible to gentle
sunlight gives a warm and sunny feeling to the images. It is important
that food shots never appear too harsh or clinical. I always start
with the plate, or other basic prop, and then add the other elements
slowly, while all the time balancing the colour until I have achieved
the perfect lighting.
Food photography covers such a vast area and includes shoots for hotels
and caterers, food manufacturers, retailers, including the organic food
market, small speciality outlets and producers such as breweries and
wineries.
I think it is important to like what you are shooting, and that is what
makes food photography such fun for me! I work closely with home economists
and others in the food industry to achieve the right results.
My portfolio of work includes projects for a large and diverse group
of clients including large corporations, builders and architects, manufacturers,
hotels and caterers, tourism boards, advertising and design agencies.
I am highly experienced in all aspects of professional photography, having
produced work for use in leaflets, brochures, corporate literature, web
sites, billboards, magazines, mail order catalogues, sites, press releases,
marketing literature, and product packaging.
I will travel anywhere in Europe for a project. |
